TIROS WON! presents DUST AND LIGHT

A one-afternoon-only free performance/installation of video and sound within the Robert H. Goddard Planetarium which takes elements from Tiros Won!'s debut collection of songs

Tiros Won! is a music/sound/video project by California-based multi-disciplinary artist Ven Voisey. Using a combination of droning and pulsing electronics, field recordings, layered and cut up guitar as well as words and voice, Voisey composes songs which contain a range of sonic textures, never quite settling with a genre, rather, seamlessly incorporating and moving through a variety of aural environments, from gentle acoustic folk elements to Gamelan-esque circular percussive rhythms, melancholy guitar loops into into oppressive electronic drones and experimental sound.

Voisey was a 2013 fellow of the Roswell Artist-in-Residence program, and simultaneously while building works for last August's exhibition "Unfinished Animal" Voisey was working on video and sound which has resulted in "Dust and Light".

"This debut collection of songs and videos became reflective of my time over my past year in Roswell. They're all built off my experience of the environment here, the undeniable prominence of the sky and the horizon; the ability to see the vastness of this planet while just standing in the back yard--every sunset grander than the last. Also, the absurd clashing and/or resonance of mystery and spirituality: our ability or inability to navigate the various unexplainable aspects of this sphere."
